Letter to the Editor

SUBJECT: What A Silly Little Sex Scandal The White House sex scandal is a prime example of what happens when religious morality injects itself into government. There is nothing wrong with a man having consensual sex with an adult woman. Men have sex with younger women quite frequently. It happens hundreds of thousands of times every day and is a natural human behavior. Quite frequently such sex involves married men cheating on their wives. Although not admirable behavior, love is not a crime. Indeed women quite frequently seek out and initiate sexual relationships with older, more mature men. I would not be surprised to learn that is exactly what happened in the case of Monica Lewinski and President Clinton. No man should have to be forced to answer questions about his private sex life. It is especially inappropriate to subject the President of the United States to public ridicule by parading him before a grand jury and asking questions about his private sex life. Such inquiry is politically motivated, aimed at defamation of the President, a threat to our national security and is itself irresponsible and scandalous behavior! Special prosecutors should be limited in their inquiry to matters of state. The private lives of people, including the President, should be off limits to special prosecutors. Infidelity is nothing to brag about, but it is not a crime. If President Clinton lied to protect his family, his office and his country from his "inappropriate relationship" with Monica Lewinski, it was a white lie! People tell white lies all the time to avoid hurting others they love. Quite frankly I think it's about time we kick the moralist out of office and stop injecting religion into politics. There is good reason to keep church morality and state affairs separate. Perhaps the best reason is to avoid silly little sex scandals and white lie cover-ups.!
